What is definition of Haram & Halal?

Praise be to Allaah.

Haraam is that for which the one who does it will be punished and the one who abstains from it will be rewarded, if the reason for his abstinence is following the prohibition of Allaah. The halaal is that in which there is no sin in doing it and no sin in not doing it, but if a person intends to enhance his obedience to Allaah by doing it, then he will be rewarded for this intention.

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

The shaykh hafidhahullah then stated that this issue of knowing merely the groups and the likes is a very important subject. It is taken from the statement of Muhammad ibn Sareeh rahimahullah this is a matter or this knowledge is a matter of deen, so be careful who you take your deen from.

Astrology vs. Astronomy

Praise be to Allaah.

Al-Bukhaari said in his Saheeh: Qutaadah said: “Allaah created these stars for three purposes: to adorn the heavens, to stone the devils and as signs by which to navigate. Whoever seeks anything else in them is mistaken and does not benefit from them, and he is wasting his time and effort in seeking something of which he has no knowledge.” (Saheeh al-Bukhaari, Baab fi’l-Nujoom, 2/240)

Al-Wahn – A deadly disease

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Beneficial

On the authority of Thawbaan , the Prophet PBUH said:

“The People will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their food.” Someone asked, “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?” He replied, “No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth and scum like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take the fear of you from the breasts (hearts) of your enemy and cast al-wahn into your hearts.” Someone asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is al-wahn?” He replied, “Love of the world and dislike of death.” [An authentic hadith recorded by Abu Dawud and Ahmad]

Where Patience is Mentioned in the Qur’aan
Taken from the book : Tools for the Patient & Provisions for the Thankful
By Shaykh ul –Islaam Ibn Qayyim alJawziyyah
Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Beneficial

Imam Ahmad may Allaah have mercy upon him – said: ‘Allaah Subhanahu mentions Sabr (patience) in the Qur’aan in 90 places.’ And we will mention the different types of Ayaat where Sabr (patience) is mentioned, and Sabr is of many types:

  1. The command of having patience. As in His saying: ((And endure patiently, for your patience is not but from Allah))1 ((So wait patiently for the command of your Lord))2
  2. The prohibition of what opposes patience. Like in His saying: ((And be in no haste about them (Unbelievers).))3 And His saying: ((So do not become weak, nor be sad))4

And His saying: ((And be not like the Companion of the Fish))5 and in brief, having patience with everything He has prohibited, since it opposes patience, which He has commanded us to have.
